The NVvP Spring Congress (in Dutch NVvP Voorjaarscongres) is in many ways a highlight within the scientific association. More than 2,500 psychiatrists come to Maastricht every year to attend a scientific program, where the ‘hot topics’ within psychiatry are discussed in 3 days. In addition to a plenary program where both international and national speakers and figureheads within psychiatry are given a platform, there is also room for experiential expertise and debates in which social themes are discussed that influence mental health. During the parallel program there is a wide range of various symposia, lively discussions and practical workshops. In addition, the large exhibition in which more than 50 mental health institutions, bookstores and companies with care innovations participate is an important part, and the heart of the congress.
