Classic car show exceeds 40,000 visitor record
An incredible 40,538 buyers and enthusiasts visited the 30th edition of InterClassics Maastricht over the last few days. The anniversary edition of the Maastricht classic car show attracted 5,130 more visitors than the previous edition, an increase of 14.5%. On the show floor, the 300 vintage car dealers displayed various rare cars from every era from brands such as Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini. Vintage-car related products and services such as parts, clothing and organised tours were also on offer. Judging from the many sold signs, quite a few cars changed hands. The theme of the show was the event’s 30th anniversary and the organisation presented 21 classic cars that visitors had selected in advance. On Friday, the professional jury chose a 1940 Tatra Type 87 as ‘Best of Show’. Visitors with an affinity for racing could attend the sister event, Sim Formula Europe, where they could try out the latest simulation technology and see professional simracers in action.
InterClassics Maastricht celebrated its 30th edition this year. Having once started out as a classic car meeting that was held on an amateur football field, the event has since grown to see 30 editions, quickly becoming the classic car show of the Benelux. The turnout of 40,000 visitors proved this once again. Exhibition Manager Erik Panis looks back on a successful anniversary with satisfaction:
‘Year after year, we see the quality improving, and this anniversary edition is the highlight. We are also seeing a clear growth in international visitors. European car collectors are very aware of the event in Maastricht, making InterClassics Maastricht one of the top classic car events in the Benelux.’
The car dealers also had positive things to say about the event; Cool Classic Club from Naarden has become a regular fixture on the show floor. Owner Robbert Buijs explains:
‘Our company has been around for seven years and we have participated in InterClassics Maastricht ever since. We haven’t skipped a single edition, and we also exhibit at the event in Brussels. It’s a warm, friendly show where we see many acquaintances and make new contacts. Sales is not our main objective but it’s always welcome, of course!’
Various familiar faces from the car world were among the visitors, such as former Formula 1 driver Giedo van der Garde. This may have been his first visit to InterClassics Maastricht, but it certainly won’t be his last.
‘The classics here bring back great memories. I won the TT at Goodwood driving a 1962 AC Cobra. It’s always great to see these cars again.’
The 2026 edition of InterClassics Maastricht will be held at MECC Maastricht from Thursday, 15 through Sunday, 18 January 2026. The new theme will be announced over the course of this year. For more information about InterClassics check www.interclassics.events.
