MECC Maastricht to host Europe’s largest vascular training conference for next five years

Maastricht, 25 May 2021 - For the next five years, the annual European Vascular Course (EVC), the leading international congress in the vascular field, will once again take place at MECC Maastricht. Today Prof. Dr. M.J.H.M. Jacobs, chairman of the EVC conference organisation, and Rob van de Wiel, MECC Maastricht Managing Director, signed the renewal of the partnership for the years 2022 through 2026. The stage of the auditorium in the renovated MECC Maastricht congress centre served as the backdrop for this signing ceremony. Attended by over 2,000 participants from 50 different countries, the 25th edition of the conference will be held from 6 through 8 March 2022 at MECC Maastricht.

The European Vascular Course is an annual conference where the latest developments in the field of cardiovascular surgery are presented. Surgeons from all over the world come to Maastricht for the event for training and education. The initiator of the conference is Prof. Dr. M.J.H.M. Jacobs, an internationally renowned vascular surgeon.

Prof. Dr. M.J.H.M. Jacobs, vascular surgeon and director of the Heart and Vascular Centre and also founder of EVC: “MECC Maastricht has been our familiar venue for 13 years now, and with the new construction and upgrade we will have even more fantastic opportunities to showcase EVC to the fullest. There are very few convention centres in the world with this type of perfect infrastructure where EVC can organise hundreds of workshops. And we get to do it all in the beautiful city of Maastricht where thousands of participants love to come every year!”

John Aarts, Alderman for Finance, Real Estate, Urban Management and Hospitality for the Maastricht City Council: “Attended by more than 2,000 conference participants from 50 countries each day for the three-day event, the annual congress generates huge spin-off benefits for the city of Maastricht and the region. A very welcome economic boost, particularly given the current situation in the hospitality sector. Many thanks to EVC for expressing their confidence in the continuation of the successful alliance with MECC Maastricht.”

Charles Beckers, Sr. Business Development Manager for MECC Maastricht: “There’s a substantial need to return to in-person events. The signing of this multi-year partnership with EVC is the confirmation for us that confidence in live events is returning to the international association market. We are naturally very proud that a renowned congress like the EVC has once again chosen MECC Maastricht as the venue for its event.”
