The upcoming 2024 edition of TEFAF Maastricht will be incorporating several new initiatives. These changes will enable the organisation to respond to various developments, trends and requests from both participants and stakeholders. The fair will be more compact in terms of its duration, the cooperation with the city and region will be intensified, and TEFAF will target new generations.
Dates for 2024
Next year, TEFAF Maastricht will be held from Thursday, 7 March to Thursday, 14 March. This means that the fair’s duration will be three days shorter than previous editions. This decision was made at the request of the majority of participants. Many exhibitors participate in multiple trade shows all over the world each year. A shorter exhibition enhances TEFAF Maastricht’s appeal, and allows the fair to continue to present works from the world’s best galleries. The focus will remain on quality over quantity.
TEFAF in the city and region
In 2024, more cooperation than ever will be sought with the city and region. When TEFAF comes to Maastricht, this isn’t just tangible at MECC Maastricht but throughout the city. The international allure TEFAF brings to Maastricht is visible everywhere. TEFAF will work with key figures from the city and region, including hoteliers, retailers, cultural institutions and the university. The goal of this reinforced cooperation is to make the MECC and the region even more attractive to international culture lovers and encourage them to stay longer, including on weekdays.
New generations
TEFAF is targeting new generations and a broader audience with special programming. The emphasis in 2024 will be on people with an interest in art but who have not yet had significant experience collecting it. A considerable focus will be placed on the different ways people can view these pieces from 9,000 years of art history, such as through the eyes of a museum curator or a contemporary artist.
Maastricht in New York
The New York edition of TEFAF is being held this week at the Park Avenue Armory. One new element in this year’s edition is the VIP lounge, decorated in line with the Maastricht 2024 theme. This will draw the attention of New York visitors to the fair in Maastricht, and Park Avenue will take on a certain Maastricht promotional flavour.
